In Matthew 28:19, Jesus told His disciples to “Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.
At Calvary Baptist Church, we believe that discipleship means nothing less than being ready to obey Christ as unconditionally as the first disciples. The discipleship ministry is designed to help grow Christians in the tenets of the Christian faith. Its purpose is to provide a firm foundation in the Word of God so Christians can base their life decisions on God’s principles and become imitators of Jesus Christ.
Discipleship is a one-on-one ministry where the CBC Discipleship Team will match a disciple with a discipler. The two will meet on a periodic basis to discuss the foundational truths of the Christian faith. As this is done, not only is God's Word taught and learned, a friendship also develops through shared trials, triumphs, and prayers. The overall objective of the program is to be the means by which Christians grow spiritually through practical teaching based on the Word of God. Once discipleship is completed and the application of spiritual principles are evident in the disciple’s life, the goal is to have the individual become a discipler in the church.
