Teaching English to Koreans

By Bill & Anna Walton |  February 3, 2010

Missionaries to Korea

Praise/Prayer:  The first week we arrived in Korea a man named Thomas was baptized. He had been saved for several years but was hesitant, at first, to get baptized because his wife is a devout Buddhist. When Thomas got saved and then wanted to obey the Lord by getting baptized, his family felt he was disrespecting and betraying the faith of his ancestors. For many of our members, the only extended family they have is the church family. It is a sad truth about their home life in many ways but a refreshing practical application of church life.

Also, we have been teaching English to the children for the past few weeks and they have enjoyed the classes. We began with children that attended the church but by the second week, we noticed that other parents who were not regular attendees began to come in an effort to have their kids learn English. During the month of December we held our first high school level English bible study. We are so excited about this opportunity! Please continue to pray for our teaching ministry and that our relationships with the parents will continue to deepen so that we may be able to share the gospel and see souls saved.
